since the nodeeditor canvas has no boundries it sometimes happens to loose focus on the nodetree when accidentally zooming out really far. can be a bit tricky to find it again

Try
CTRL+F I think frame all
ALT+F I think reset zoom to default
CTRL+A/ CTRL+F frame selected
