when using group based filtering there is currently no way to set the groups blending mode to pass through

The next release will have these changes:

1. Group based gets a checkbox to override layer blending mode to Pass Through.

2. Group Nested Based gets full group control now. Visibility, name, opacity, blending mode. Will need to add color too at some point.
